Looking forward

Whilst I have not done any work on the website over the Christmas period I am committed to adding the following to prime-exposure.co.uk in the new year:

1. New posts to the blog section: one concerning photography and the law and one on Michael Freeman's book "The photographer's eye".
2. The addition of work (pictures and articles) from other photographers.
3. Adding comment functionality to the blog section.
4. Serving different picture sizes depending on screen resolution, thanks to Michael Clark for that suggestion.
5. Redesigning the home page.

I have recently bought a book entitled "Teach yourself PHP, MySQL and Apache" in order to fulfil some of the above additions and I am already having a complete NIGHTMARE trying to install MySQL on my computer. It seems Windows Vista and MySQL aren't a good combination and the old version of MySQL (5.0.51) that came with the CD needs a lot of hacks just to get the installation wizard to run. Furthermore when I try to download an updated version from the MySQL website the download won't start. Hours of traipsing through forum posts it is then... :(

website - 10 days to go

Just like any new experience, building your first functional website is a steep learning curve.

Lesson #1. Self imposed deadlines: write them on your calendar, not your blog.

That will be all. Oh and I promise I will put some photos up tomorrow... :)

Website progress - 15 days to go

The website has come along nicely since my last post on the subject: the web hosting has been sorted and paid for, I put an under construction page up to test that the FTP connection is working (it is) and I have nine, never seen before, images to unveil. I appreciate I haven't loaded any new images on the blog for a while now but all the good stuff is being saved for the launch of the site.
